Texas Instruments Factory In Greenock Saved As Deal Reached With New Company

The Texas Instruments factory in Greenock, and it's 300 associated jobs, is to to be saved from closure after an agreement was reached for it to be acquired by global manufacturer Diodes Incorporated.

Permission Given For Major Residential Development At Port Glasgow School Site

Inverclyde councillors have approved a development of more than 200 flats and houses to be built at the former St Stephen's High School site in upper Port Glasgow.

Forsa Energy was granted permission for eight 110-metre high turbines in Corlic Hill in 2016 with work due to begin on the twelve month installation in the next few months.

Port Glasgow Company Moelle Interlok Packaging Saved By McLaren Packaging

Port Glasgow business Moelle Interlok Packaging has gone into administration and the business and its assets sold to McLaren Packaging in a deal that means all 62 employees will retain their jobs.

The development of 36 two-storey terraced and semi-detached houses and cottage flats will be on land bounded by Auchmead Road, Burns Road and Inverkip Road, where Ravenscraig Primary School used to be.

Tributes Paid To Former Provost

Tributes have been paid to a former provost who has passed away at the age of 97. Alex MacLean was Provost of Port Glasgow between 1969 and 1972 and also continued his public service as a Strathclyde regional councillor until 1996.

Centre Members Bowled Over With £100k Makeover

Inverclyde is set to become a major player in national indoor bowls after the area's indoor facility was given a £100k revamp meaning the venue can now host national and international competitions.

Greenock Ocean Terminal 2019 Cruise Ship List

Nearly 36 cruise ships are scheduled to visit Greenock this year, a total of 75 times with larger ships starting to call at the Ocean Terminal at the end of April continuing through to the end of September 2019.

Bosses at OYT estimate that they have supported around 14,000 young people and sailed around 250,000 miles, which equals over 10 times around the world since forming in 1999.
